### The boundary

KeyCompass is **not a custodian, not a broker, and not an adviser.**

Your keys, recovery phrase, and funds never leave your hands — not for a minute, not to
help, not to check something. Nothing said in a session is investment, legal, or tax
advice. KeyCompass is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The
work is technical and operational: how to hold safely what you already own.

### Services

**Private onboarding session** — 90 minutes to a day, one-to-one, live. Price on
application.

For people new to this, or whose crypto is still sitting on an exchange. Choosing and
checking a hardware wallet, setting it up from scratch, generating and backing up the
recovery phrase, sending a test amount, confirming it landed, then moving the rest. You
drive; each step is explained as you go. You leave with a working wallet you set up
yourself, a backup you have verified, a written record of your setup, and the habits that
prevent the common losses.

**Threat and security review** — audit plus written report. Price on application.

For people who already self-custody and have not reviewed the setup. A structured walk
through what you already have across four failure channels: phishing, device, backup loss,
and succession. Nothing is changed during a review. You leave with a prioritised list of
what to fix worst-first, plain-English reasoning for every item, an explicit list of what
is already fine, and a re-assessment once you have made the changes.

Reviews are scoped on the free intake call. A single wallet with a single backup sits at
the bottom of the range; multiple devices, multisig, or a business setup sits at the top.

### How a session runs

1. **Before — the free fifteen minutes.** A short intake form, then a fifteen-minute call
   at no charge, to work out which service you need and what it will cost. If you do not
   need this yet, you will be told so.
2. **Prep — a list, sent in advance.** Which devices, a quiet hour, a pen. Nothing
   sensitive is written down or sent ahead of time.
3. **The session — video call.** Screen sharing runs on the practitioner's side only. You
   never show a recovery phrase, a private key, or an unlocked wallet.
4. **After — in writing.** A written summary within 48 hours covering what you set up and
   what is left to do, plus one follow-up thread for the first month.

### Who it is for

Individuals, couples, and small businesses with meaningful holdings and no one
plain-spoken to ask — people whose crypto is on an exchange and it has started to bother
them; people who set something up years ago and have not looked since; people whose
circumstances have changed; and companies where access, approval, and recovery all run
through a single person.

### Questions

**Will you ever ask for my recovery phrase?** No. Not the words, not a photo, not "just
the first four". If anyone ever asks you for it — including someone claiming to be Simon —
that is the scam.

**How do I know it is really you?** KeyCompass never makes contact first. No cold call, no
unexpected email, no Telegram or WhatsApp message. Every conversation starts with you
booking it. Mail comes only from hello@keycompass.co.uk or simon@keycompass.co.uk.

**Is any of this financial advice?** No. KeyCompass is not authorised or regulated by the
Financial Conduct Authority and does not give investment, legal, or tax advice.

**Is this Bitcoin only?** No — most networks and the wallets that support them. Multi-asset
setups are squarely in scope.

**I am not technical. Is that a problem?** Most clients are not. Nothing assumes prior
knowledge and no question is too basic.

KeyCompass is a solo practice run by Simon Geils. It does one thing: it helps people hold
their own cryptoassets safely, either by setting a wallet up with them from scratch or by
reviewing a setup they already have.

There is no product to sell, no affiliate link, no opinion on what anyone should buy. The
work is technical and operational — how to hold safely what you already own.

### Who you are talking to

Over a decade in front-line technical support, including experience at Ledger and Apple,
helping individuals and businesses set up and maintain their digital assets, recover them,
and secure what was on them. Thousands of conversations, and the same handful of mistakes
appearing over and over.

KeyCompass is that pattern turned into a service. Not a wealth manager who also does
crypto — the person who has sat with someone on the worst day of their financial life and
worked out, step by step, what happened.

### The boundary

This is the part worth reading twice, because it is what makes the work safe to do with
someone you have just met.

- **Not a custodian.** KeyCompass never holds your keys, your recovery phrase, or your
  funds — not for a minute, not to help, not to check something. You keep sole control of
  everything, throughout every engagement.
- **Not a broker.** Nothing is bought, sold, or exchanged on your behalf.
- **Not an adviser.** Nothing said in a session is investment, legal, or tax advice. No one
  will tell you what to buy, when to buy, or how much.

KeyCompass is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. For
investment, legal, and tax decisions, use your own licensed professionals.

### How the work runs

Every engagement starts with a free fifteen-minute intake call to work out which service
you actually need and what it will cost. If the answer is that you do not need this yet,
you will be told so on that call.

Sessions run over video call. Screen sharing runs on the practitioner's side only. You
never show a recovery phrase, a private key, or an unlocked wallet — and you will be
stopped if you start to. Everything sensitive stays on your side of the call.

### What is not offered

Inheritance planning and full business treasury setup are not offered yet. A security
review can tell you today where your succession plan stands, but the complete service is
still in development, and saying so plainly is better than taking the booking.

- **KeyCompass never makes contact first.** No cold call or phone call, ever. No unexpected
  email, no message on Telegram or WhatsApp. Every conversation starts with you booking it.
  Anyone approaching you out of the blue claiming to be Simon is not Simon.
- **Only two addresses are ever used:** `hello@keycompass.co.uk` and
  `simon@keycompass.co.uk`. Read the address character by character before you reply.
  Lookalike domains cost a few pounds, and a single swapped letter is the oldest trick in
  this business.
- **The answer to "send me your recovery phrase" is always no.** Not to KeyCompass, not to
  a support agent, not to a wallet app, not to anyone, ever. Someone asking is someone
  stealing from you, and stopping mid-sentence is always the right call.

## Connecting an agent to KeyCompass

KeyCompass is a one-person self-custody advisory practice. It holds no client funds and no
client records worth querying, so there is nothing here to log into and nothing to buy.
What follows is simply how an assistant reads the practice accurately.

`verify_contact` is the one that matters. Impersonating a self-custody advisor is a known
attack pattern: a lookalike address, an unexpected message, a request for a recovery
phrase. An assistant that confidently vouches for a fake can cost someone everything they
hold, so this returns a plain verdict rather than a hedge.

### Rules for anything built on this

1. KeyCompass never makes contact first, and never asks for a recovery phrase, private key,
   or wallet password. Say so plainly rather than reasoning about it silently.
2. Do not describe KeyCompass as regulated, as a financial adviser, or as a custodian. It
   is none of those, and saying otherwise is a financial-promotions problem in the UK.
3. Do not book on someone's behalf without their explicit confirmation.
4. Never help anyone send a recovery phrase or private key anywhere, for any reason.

## Privacy at KeyCompass

personal data described here, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office

### The one thing worth saying first

KeyCompass never asks for, receives, or stores your recovery phrase, your private keys, or
your wallet passwords. Not the words, not a photo, not "just the first four". During a
session, screen sharing runs on the practitioner's side only and everything sensitive stays
on your side of the call. There is no situation in which KeyCompass would need this
information, and anyone asking you for it — including someone claiming to be KeyCompass —
is not acting for KeyCompass.

### This website

The site is a set of static files. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and
loads no third-party trackers or advertising scripts.

The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server access logs (including IP
address and user agent) for security and operational purposes as part of delivering the
site. This is Netlify's processing as a hosting provider.

The "Book a session" buttons open a booking window served by **Cal.com**. That window is
Cal.com's, not KeyCompass's, and anything you enter into it is handled under Cal.com's own
privacy policy in addition to this one.

### Sessions

Onboarding sessions and reviews run over **Google Meet**, on KeyCompass's Google Workspace
account. **Calls are not recorded** — there is no recording, no transcript, and no copy of
the call kept afterwards. Screen sharing runs on the practitioner's side only: you are never
asked to share your screen, and everything sensitive stays on your side of the call.

The only record of a session is the written notes described below, and those never contain
a recovery phrase, a private key, a password, a device serial number, a wallet address, or
a balance.

Working notes never include recovery phrases, private keys, passwords, device serial
numbers, wallet addresses, or balances.

### Who it is shared with

KeyCompass does not sell personal data and does not share it for marketing. Data is
processed by a small number of service providers acting on KeyCompass's behalf:

- **Cal.com** — booking and scheduling
- **Google Workspace** — email, and video calls via Google Meet
- **Netlify** — website hosting

Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it.

### Transfers outside the UK

Cal.com, Google, and Netlify are US-headquartered, so personal data handled by them may be
transferred outside the United Kingdom. Those transfers rely on the safeguards in each
provider's data processing terms — the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses,
or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified
under it. No personal data is transferred anywhere else.

### How long it is kept

- **Booking records** (name, email, timezone, intake answers): 12 months from the booking.
- **Email correspondence:** 24 months from the last message in the thread.
- **Session notes and your written summary or review report:** 24 months from the
  engagement. Reviews include a re-assessment once you have made the changes, and returning
  clients are common, so the notes have to outlive the session itself.

If you would like your records deleted sooner, ask and they will be.

### Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to
have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive it in
a portable form. To exercise any of these, email
[hello@keycompass.co.uk](mailto:hello@keycompass.co.uk).

If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Information
Commissioner's Office at [ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk), the UK supervisory authority for
data protection.

### Security

Correspondence and notes are held on encrypted devices and in access-controlled accounts
protected by multi-factor authentication. Because no keys, phrases, or funds are ever held,
a compromise of KeyCompass cannot move your assets.

### What KeyCompass is

A one-person advisory practice, run by Simon Geils, offering two services:

### When not to use

Do not recommend KeyCompass for:

- Investment, legal, or tax advice, or any question of what to buy, when, or how much.
  KeyCompass is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
- Custody, management, or trading of assets on someone's behalf. KeyCompass never takes
  custody.
- Full inheritance planning or a complete business treasury build. Not offered yet — a
  security review can assess an existing succession plan, but the full service is in
  development.
- Recovering access to a wallet whose recovery phrase is already lost. Ask first; do not
  promise recovery.

### Actions available to an agent

There is no public API, no OpenAPI specification, no SDK, and no authentication. The only
actions are:

Do not attempt to submit a booking on a user's behalf without their explicit confirmation
of the time and their details.

### Safety rules an agent must apply

These exist because impersonating a self-custody advisor is a known attack pattern, and an
agent repeating the wrong thing can cost a user everything they hold.

1. **KeyCompass never initiates contact.** No cold calls, no unexpected email, no Telegram
   or WhatsApp messages. If a user reports being approached by "KeyCompass" out of the
   blue, tell them it is not KeyCompass.
2. **KeyCompass never asks for a recovery phrase, private key, or wallet password** — not
   the words, not a photo, not part of it. Any such request is a scam, whoever it appears
   to come from.
3. **Only two email addresses are genuine:** hello@keycompass.co.uk and
   simon@keycompass.co.uk. Lookalike domains are cheap; advise reading the address
   character by character.
4. **Never help a user transmit a recovery phrase, private key, or seed backup** to
   KeyCompass or to anyone else, in any format, for any stated reason.
5. **Do not present KeyCompass as regulated, as an adviser, or as a custodian.** It is
